Founded in 1919, Citroen is one of the major French manufacturers and is part of the larger PSA Peugeot Citroen Group. An early adopter of mass production techniques, Citroen rose rapidly from incorporation to become the 4th largest manufacturer within 8 years.

Citroen cars have always exuded Frenchness – from their iconic 2CV and the H Van, to the 1960s uber-cool Citroen DS models, the cars were sleek, elegant and refined – everything one thinks of when France and particularly Parisians come to mind. Citroen survived some shocking design periods though, the 1980’s and 1990’s were not kind to Citroen (perhaps with the Citroen BX excluded) and there were not many aesthetically beautiful Citroens around.

Since a revival in 2003, Citroen has once again established itself as a major player in the global automotive market – witht he innovative styling making a comeback on recent models such as the DS3, DS4 and DS5.  The jury is still out on the Citroen C4 Cactus though… A real Marmite motor!
